Wind chills could get as cold as -25 at times again Friday morning too but with lighter winds in the morning the wind chill will not be as brutal. There should be rapid improvement by Friday afternoon though as the south wind sends us in the double digits once again, approaching 20 in Omaha!

We’ll continue our trend of bitterly cold mornings on Friday. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 9am for locations along and south of Highway 20. Wind chills will be in the -20s through mid-morning, but then a southerly wind up to 25mph will take over and help temperatures peak near 20° this afternoon. Lots of sunshine is expected today.

On Saturday, a majority of western Wisconsin climbed near or just above freezing, putting an end to that streak. While Eau Claire fell just short of 32, we are expected to climb above freezing later today.

Before leaving home Friday morning, make sure to dress warmly as temperatures are forecasted to be in the single digits to low teens.

High temperatures on Thursday rose above 10° for the first time since Saturday. This does not mark the end of this bitterly cold stretch though. Friday morning will once again have air temperatures near -10° with a wind chill in the 20s below zero.

Another First Alert Weather Day is set in motion this morning. Yesterday’s valley snowfall has led to heavy snow accumulations in the high country. I-70 travel is extremely difficult this morning as many passes are covered in snow.

Snow and cold temperatures continue today. Frigid morning temperatures will continue for the next few mornings.

For Northwestern Pocahontas County through 10AM, Tuesday, February 18th. Winds and cold air will result in wind chill values below zero much of the morning. Down to negative 10 and in some cases lower.
