A group representing U.S. airlines wants a series of safety changes after a fatal collision between an Army helicopter and American Airlines regional jet killed 67 people in January near Washington's Reagan National Airport.

But in reality, flying is one of the safest ways to travel and, thanks to a new report, we can now discover which are the safest airlines in the US to fly with. A recent study by MIT found that the fatality rate associated with flying fell to one per every 13.

DALLAS — Mesa Airlines (YV), a key regional carrier partner for United Airlines (UA) under the United Express brand, has completed an important fleet transition by retiring all Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft and shifting exclusively to Embraer E175 jets.

American Airlines isn’t giving up on O’Hare International Airport. The Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier says it will operate 22% more flights with 25% more seats from O’Hare this summer than last year. It will have 480 peak daily departures, the most since 2019, when the airline had 540 flights.

The case is filed against the U.S. Department of Transportation, and it’s unclear whether the Trump administration will defend it.
