Apple's plans to add Google Gemini to Apple Intelligence are well underway, according to backend iOS code. 9To5Mac analyst Aaron Perris looked into the backend update for the iOS 18.4 beta and discovered mentions of "Google" alongside "OpenAI" and "Third Party Model.

Apple has introduced code referencing “Google” as a third-party model choice for Apple Intelligence to leverage, according to a backend change spotted by Aaron Perris, who often shares info gleaned from Apple firmware code,

The iOS 18.4 update will bring several new capabilities, including priority notifications. However, the new Siri, Apples digital assistant, will arrive later, with the iOS 18.5 update.

Apple's software engineers have been internally testing iOS 18.5 since at least the start of February, according to the MacRumors visitor logs.

Priority Notifications is a new Apple Intelligence feature for iPhones that automatically identifies and highlights important notifications. Using on-device processing, it detects which updates may be significant for the user and sorts them into a dedicated section.

The evidence of Google’s integration with Apple Intelligence was said to be found in the backend code of iOS 18.4.

Apple, on Friday, confirmed that iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, arriving in April, will introduce Apple Intelligence in localised Indian English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. This update will also bring Apple Intelligence to the EU region.
