As astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams prepared to make their way back to Earth for a planned Tuesday-evening splashdown off the coast of Tallahassee, President Donald Trump praised the efforts to bring them home — and his own role in doing so.

Stranded NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are heading home after the SpaceX capsule sent to rescue them undocked from the International Space Station early Tuesday.

The White House has praised President Donald Trump for the return of two NASA astronauts who were part of the failed Boeing Starliner mission. However, NASA had already made arrangements for their return before Trump took office.
