The Federal Communications Commission said it plans to open an investigation into cable and internet giant Comcast Corp. and its NBCUniversal subsidiary over diversity, equity and inclusion programs,

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is concerned that diversity, equity and inclusion programs at Comcast and NBCUniversal fostered discrimination, which is forbidden under FCC rules and federal laws.

FCC Chair Carr, a Trump appointee, has said he will investigate PBS and NPR, which both receive government funding, to see if government rules around the naming of financial sponsors on the air has been violated.
